FOSTORIA – A familiar face took home Crestview’s lone title at this week’s Division IV Fostoria District.

But the Cougar track and field squads had some more firepower to go along with it.

Crestview star senior pole vaulter and Ashland University commit Liam Kuhn added to his trove of honors in the event by taking district gold with a clearance of 13 feet, 4 inches.

That effort helped the CHS boys to sixth place as a team (49 points), but it was the Cougar girls – fresh off a repeat Firelands Conference title – who collected more qualifications to next week’s regional championships at Marion Harding.

Buoyed by regional runners-up Kaelyn Weaver (5-0 in the high jump) and Zoe Kuhn (10-4 in the pole vault), Crestview claimed fourth overall with 69.5 points.

Thrower Chloe Ringler was a double-duty regional qualifier after placing fourth in the shot put (33-2.75) and third in the discus (116-6), while teammate Danika Kingman was Crestview’s other individual survivor, taking third in the shot put with a PR of 33-8.75.

Also moving on for the CHS girls was the 4×100 relay of Devon Hickey, Tori Kidney, Logan Moore and Bella Grant (third in a season-best 51.57).

Crestview’s boys had a double-event regional qualifier in hurdler Max Durbin, who picked up second in the 300 hurdles (40.35) and third in the 110s (15.64) after sweeping FC titles in both a week earlier.

Lane Robinson also survived for the Cougars, clearing a third-place height in the high jump with a PR of 6-2.

Overall, the Eastwood girls were team champs with 122 points while Huron took the boys’ crown with 94 points.
