LEXINGTON — Sadie Walter added another chapter to an already historic season.

The Ashland junior won regional titles in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, helping the Arrows to a sixth-place finish at the Division II Lexington regional meet Friday.

Ashland tied for sixth with 37 points.

Walter established new personal records in both of her specialty events. She won the 100s in 14.55 seconds and took gold in the 300s in 44.33.

Several factors played into the record-setting afternoon.

“This is probably the best weather we’ve had this season,” said Walter, who also earned a state berth in the 100 with a fifth-place finish of 12.44. “The adrenaline is high and the competition is good, so I feel that helps push me to be the best I can.”

Teammate Oaklynn Burns won a regional title in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 11.5 inches. The jump tied the school record.

“I think it’s been there since the 1980s,” Burns said. “My goal is to hit 18 feet. I think that will get me on the (state meet) podium, but everyone who qualifies is really good.”

The Arrows swept the long jump as Dakota Kruty won the boys competition Wednesday with a leap of 21-5.25.

Greyson Blough, Braden Donatini and Ty Bates also punched their tickets to Columbus.

Blough finished third in the shot put with a throw of 53-11. Donatini was fifth in the 300 hurdles (38.83) and Bates finished fifth in the pole vault (12-8).

“I was hoping for a PR, but I’m still pleased,” said Blough, who has a personal-best throw of 55-7.5. “I’m looking forward to competing at state. It should be fun.”
