ASHLAND — There was no shortage of horsepower Saturday around downtown Ashland.
Mayor Matt Miller estimated more than 800 vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles, were on display in the 16th annual Downtown Dream Cruise and Car Show.
Despite a water main break along West Main Street early Saturday morning, hundreds of participating vehicles were matched by hundreds of attendees.
All proceeds from the event are donated to Shop with a Cop, a local non-profit which organizes a Christmas shopping day with at-risk youth and local law enforcement — as well as supporting those relationships throughout the year.
Over the past 15 years, the annual show has raised $250,000 for the non-profit organization, according to Sandra Tunnell, executive director of Ashland Main Street.
Collections for the family of fallen Rittman police Sgt. Scott Ries were also accepted at the event’s registration tents. Ries was fatally shot July 5 while responding to a report of a disturbance and shots fired at a home on Chippewa Trail.
