ASHLAND — The Ashland County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and Catholic Charities, both service contract providers of the Mental Health and Recovery Board of
Ashland County, are partnering to introduce “Families Finding Hope: Supporting Wellness and Resilience.”
This program offers a safe, judgment-free space for family members, friends and community members impacted by a loved one’s substance use and other behaviors of
concern to break isolation, process shared experiences and build lasting resilience together.
Purpose and goals
The primary mission of Families Finding Hope is to remind families and caregivers that they do not have to navigate the weight of substance misuse and other behaviors of concern alone.
The program focuses on empowering participants with practical tools for emotional well-being, including:
- Healthy coping and boundaries: Learning practical techniques to set firm,
compassionate boundaries and manage personal stress. - Psychology of trauma: Gaining insights into how addiction affects the brain, family dynamics and emotional health.
- A platform to share: Providing a safe space for members to tell their stories without fear of judgment or misunderstanding.
- Holistic support: Addressing the complex emotional, financial and physical impacts that addiction places on loved ones.
Collaborative efforts
This initiative brings together ACCADA’s specialized expertise in addiction prevention and recovery services alongside Catholic Charities’ extensive community outreach and support infrastructure. By combining resources, both organizations are creating a unified, compassionate network dedicated to whole-family healing.
This joint effort ensures that loved ones supporting individuals through addiction have direct access to clinical guidance, peer empathy and structured community resources.
Impact and expectations
Participants in Families Finding Hope can expect to gain a lasting network of peers who
understand the unique challenges of supporting a loved one through addiction.
By creating a routine space for open dialogue, the program aims to dismantle the shame that keeps families isolated. Attendees will walk away with actionable coping mechanisms, clearer boundaries and a renewed sense of hope and resilience.
