LOUDONVILLE — The Mohican Area Community Fund has disbursed $50,924 in grants to local community programs and charitable services for the first-half of 2017. The amount includes smaller grants paid in full for the year.
Of this total, 53 percent of agency allocations support health and family service programs, 15 percent funds youth sports and recreation, 19 percent encourages academic excellence in the Loudonville-Perrysville Exempt Village Schools, 6 percent aids youth and scouting services, and 6 percent promotes an appreciation and preservation of local history.
Agencies receiving checks this month include the American Red Cross, Appleseed Community Mental Health Center, Ashland Christian Health Center, Ashland County Cancer Association, Ashland Parenting Plus, Bikes for Kids, Boy Scouts of America (Loudonville-Perrysville units), Buckhaven Learning Center, Catholic Charities Community Services, Community Help Mission, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland (Loudonville-Perrysville units), Growing Mohican Families, Helping Hand, Hospice of North Central Ohio, Friends of Loudonville Public Library, Loudonville Stingrays Swim Team, Loudonville Theatre & Arts Committee, Loudonville Church Women, Loudonville Youth Inc., Loudonville Youth Soccer Association, Loudonville Youth Football, L/P Academic Boosters, L/P Athletic Boosters, L/P Music Boosters, L/P School/Community Liaisons, Meals on Wheels, Mohican Historical Society, Mohican School in the Out-of-Doors, Perrysville Association of Churches, Perrysville Youth Association, Safe Haven, The Salvation Army (Loudonville Service Unit), and Valley View Christian Preschool.
“The 2017 “Have a Mohican Heart!” campaign met and exceeded its goal for the seventh straight year,” says Brian Hartzell, president of Mohican Area Community Fund. “Thanks to solid community support, the campaign received gifts and pledges of more than $90,250, of which $88,100 will be distributed this year. We all share the benefits from this annual giving program.”
MACF is currently accepting funding requests from nonprofits and other charitable agencies serving clients within MACF’s service area for its 2018 campaign which will begin this summer.
