ASHLAND — Ashland County commissioner Michael Welch took over the helm as the board’s newest president during Monday’s reorganizational meeting.
Commissioners Denny Bittle and Jim Justice voted unanimously for the appointment. Bittle moved into the vice president role, meaning he serves as an alternate when Welch is otherwise unavailable.
Welch, first elected to the Ashland County Board of Commissioners in 2002, will also serve on the following boards:
• Ashland Area Economic Development Council
• Ashland County Land Reutilization Corporation (land bank)
• Records Commission
• 911 Advisory Committee, president
• Community Corrections Board, president
As vice president, Bittle will serve on:
• Ashland County Land Reutilization Corporation
• Ashland County Local Emergency Planning Committee
• Ashland County Solid Waste Management District
• Erie Basin Resource Conservation and Development
Commissioner Justice will serve on:
• Kno-Ho-Co Governing Board
• Board of Revision
• Family and Children First Council
• Senior Citizen’s Board
