JEROMESVILLE — The Hillsdale football team is on some kind of a roll.
The Falcons have won four straight and have thrust themselves into a shot at the Wayne County Athletic League title.
Coach Trevor Cline’s club hammered Waynedale 36-0 on Friday night to improve to 5-3 overall, 3-1 in the WCAL.
That victory sets up a monster showdown at fellow contender Northwestern next week. The Huskies subdued Smithville 22-7 on Friday night to improve to 6-2, 3-1.
Hillsdale left little doubt early they would move into that contest with some serious momentum. Braylen Jarvis ran for 94 yards and three touchdowns as the Falcons took control from the very beginning.
Owen Sloan ripped off a 26-yard TD dash with 7:16 showing in the first quarter to get Cline’s crew on the board. Jarvis added his first score, a 1-yard dive, four minutes later to make it 14-0 in the first period.
Jack Fickes plunged in from a yard away to make it 22-0 at halftime. Jarvis added touchdown bolts of 17 and 8 yards in the third period to prompt a running clock and put the game on ice.
Quarterback Jake Hoverstock contributed 121 yards of total offense, 72 rushing, 49 passing.
Hillsdale controlled the line of scrimmage while earning more first downs (19-7), rushing yards (308-12), and total yards (357-89).
Waynedale drops to 2-6, 1-3. The Golden Bears host Chippewa next week.
