ASHLAND — One man was found dead and another was found injured inside a home right across the street from Brookside West Park on Friday.
Jason R. Gardner, 39, was found dead after sheriff’s deputies were called to the home at the 1200 block on County Road 1153, according to a press release from the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office.
Gardner was apparently shot to death, Lt. Don Sims told the Ashland Times-Gazette.
Deputies also discovered an older white male in the house whose injuries “were troubling to the paramedics and deputies,” according to the press release. The injured man was transported to a hospital.
Deputies were initially called at 11:19 a.m. after a female had gone to the house and requested an emergency squad, according to the press release. Lt. Don Sims identified the woman as the soon-to-be daughter-in-law of the injured man, according to the Ashland Times-Gazette.
The Ashland County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were also called to the scene.
Sheriff’s detectives later obtained a search warrant, and continued processing the crime scene Friday night.
The investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released once it is concluded, the press release said.
