SHELBY — The Shelby Cycle Historical Society is hosting a four-part series on Collecting Shelbys at the Shelby Bicycle Museum in the Justice Center, 31 Mack Avenue.

Veteran collectors will lead the workshops and participants are encouraged to bring their bicycles to show. The first workshop starts at 2 p.m. May 21. All events begin at 2 p.m.

May 21 – Buying Your First Shelby. Learn the basics of starting a collection, parts that easily identify a Shelby, a brief history of the companies and designs, and more.

June 11 – Fine Tuning Your Bike. Make sure your Shelby is in tip top shape to ride around town and in the Shelby Bicycle Days parade.

Sept. 10 – Feeding and Weeding Your Collection. Learn how to decide when to buy and when to sell part of your collection.

Oct. 15 – When to Restore and How Far To Go. One of the biggest decisions a collector has to make is whether to repaint their bike or love it as is. Learn how to clean up the chrome, ways to remove rust, and other restoration that can be done.
