ASHLAND – The Ashland University Department of Theatre will hold open youth auditions for its upcoming production of the most performed show in America “Seussical.”
Directed by Dr. Teresa Durbin-Ames, associate professor of Theatre, with musical direction by guest artist Brian Nabors, auditions for youth in grades 2 through 8 will be held Sunday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre. Children do not need to prepare anything. They will be taught a song from the show at the audition.
Rehearsals for the production will begin Jan. 6, 2018, and performances will be held Feb. 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m., and Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre along with a school matinee performance on Friday, Feb. 23, at 9 a.m.
“Seussical” is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza. All of the favorite Dr. Seuss characters are brought to life including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo.
