There are a couple of north central Ohio connections in play this weekend.
In a Division VII Final Four game, Glouster Trimble (12-1) tangles with Cuyahoga Heights (11-2) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Highland High School in Marengo. Trimble edged Lucas 21-14 in last weekend’s regional final thriller. The winner plays the survivor of Fort Loramie (12-1) vs. McComb (12-1) for a state championship.
In a Division IV state semifinal, St. Marys Memorial (12-1) challenges Cincinnati Wyoming (13-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Piqua High School. The winner faces the survivor of Licking Valley (10-3) vs. Girard (12-1) for a state crown. The Roughriders ended Clear Fork’s undefated season last week with a 38-7 verdict in the regional finals.
Finally, in a Division I tilt, former Shelby coach Steve Hale guides Olentangy Liberty (9-4) against Lakewood St. Edward (9-3) on Friday night at Arlin Field in Mansfield. The winner gets the survivor of Cincinnati Colerain (13-0) and Pickerington Central (11-2) for a state championship.
