Josianne Marcelle Stone, 97 of Ashland, formerly of Long Island, New York, passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, December 21, 2024 in her home in the presence of her loving family and friends.

She was born on February 26, 1927, in Saint-Vaast, a small coal mining village in Belgium close to the French border. Her parents, Armand and Germaine Mathieu, moved to the capital of Belgium, Brussels, for employment as a cook and butler. She was separated from her parents in 1938 and moved in with her maternal grandparents, whom she lived with for 8 years in a loving environment. In 1940, WW2 broke out and Hitler invaded Belgium followed by 4 years of Nazi occupation. She decided to follow a fashion career and with 2 years of hard work was able to save enough to pay to study fashion in Paris and pursue her dream. At her return she was offered the opportunity to immigrate with her parents to the USA which she could hardly refuse.

Two years later she married Clifford Stone of East Hampton Long Island, NY. They had two sons, Robert (Mona), Steven (Marilyn) and daughter Gigi (Mark), 4 grandchildren, Jenine Faulkner, Amanda (Gary) Murphy, Philip (Dakota) Stone and Lucas (Sarah) Stone, 7 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Eugene Stone, parents, Armand & Germaine Mathieu, grandson Ross Stone, her sister Suzanne Bundy & nephew Emil Moreels.

She had a full, rewarding life, a very loving family and many true friends. She was looking forward to the day when she would meet her Lord and Savior face to face. That day has arrived. She wants all to rejoice with her, hoping to see you again… when your journey on earth is over. You have a choice to make, she made hers 52 years ago, and although the way is not always easy, her Savior never failed to come to her rescue. Jesus is only a prayer away. Salvation is free to all who believe and the longer we serve Him, the better it gets. May God bless you richly with mercy and more of His amazing grace.

In keeping with her wishes no services will be observed. Details about a celebration of her life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Honey Lake Clinic https://www.honeylake.clinic/donate/.
