Helen A. Lent, 85 of Ashland passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 with her family at her side.
She was born on March 29, 1939 in Zaleski, Ohio the daughter of the late Hobart and Ella (nee Pennell) Hayes.
Helen graduated from Zaleski High School, Class of 1956.
She married the love of her life, Robert L. Lent on June 16, 1957.
Helen retired after more than 31 years from the Ohio Department of Transportation where she was an administrative assistant.
She was a devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church. Helen loved to play golf, cards, travel to Arizona and Texas, and spend time with her family. In her retirement years, she was an active volunteer at Samaritan Hospital, Hospice of North Central Ohio and World Series of Golf.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Stephanie (Jeff) Sweet of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Cindy (Mike) Stricklin of Mansfield, Texas; five grandchildren, Shanna (Jason) Henslin, Kyle (Rachel) Stricklin, Robbie (Lauren) Stricklin, and John (Sydney/fiancé) Stricklin and Joey (Brooke/fiancé) Stricklin; 7 great grandchildren, Olivia, Reed, Matthew and Aubree Henslin; Suzie, Ellie and Charlie Stricklin; one sister, Stella Sue (Bill) Coleman of McArthur, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert Lent who passed from this life on July 2, 2006; three brothers, Raymond, Andrew, and Kenneth Hayes; and three sisters, Mary Crippen, Ella Mae Harris, and Joan Thomas.
A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church, 1140 Claremont Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Tom Snyder presiding. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
