ASHLAND — The Amazon distribution facility coming to Ashland sits in an advantageous geographic region for north central Ohio residents.
Officials believe it could mean faster delivery times for those who live within a 50-mile radius of the structure.
Drawing a circle with Ashland as the center points means this could impact those who live from Canton to Upper Sandusky, Coshocton to Sandusky, Cleveland to Marion, Mount Vernon to the shores of Lake Erie, and all points within.
Paula Morrison, an Amazon regional public relations specialist, said the Ashland facility in progress will be one of dozens of delivery stations across Ohio.
“Amazon’s fulfillment network in Ohio continues to grow to meet evolving customer needs,” Morrison said. “All (delivery stations are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to efficiently process customer orders.”
Amazon orders move from fulfillment centers, air hubs and sort centers to local delivery stations where packages are sorted by destination and prepared for final delivery through Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners (DSP) drivers.

“When we open a new delivery station in a community, our expanded transportation network particularly benefits rural communities by enabling faster Amazon deliveries, providing convenient access to over 300 million products, and reducing delivery times that previously could take up to a week,” Morrison said.
“Customers in Ashland and neighboring counties will now see improved same-day and next-day delivery options that were previously unavailable in rural areas.
“The station will serve a 50-mile radius and bring greater capacity for delivering packages to communities across the region.”
The $22 million Amazon facility includes a 78,558 square-foot facility on nearly 23 acres. According to site plans submitted to the City of Ashland, the building will be about 50-feet tall and include a 16,500-square-foot canopy in the rear of the building.
Plans also list 175 associate parking spaces, 169 van parking spaces, seven handicap accessible spaces and one handicap van accessible space.
Amazon closed the real estate deal for the project at Wells Road and U.S. Route 250 in December 2024.
Amazon describes the developing facility in Ashland as a “last-mile delivery station” where goods are sorted and loaded onto delivery vehicles.
Morrison said Amazon will hire full- and part-time employees at a starting pay of $18.50 per hour for part-time roles. The average wage for third party delivery drivers is $22 per hour.
Morrison said the site will create about 50-75 part-time jobs and about 10 full-time jobs. She said employees are eligible for health insurance, 401(k) savings plans and other benefits beginning their first day of work.
Amazon could not yet share an opening date.
