Charles “Chuck” Tener, 63 of Sullivan passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 20, 2025 in his home surrounded by friends and family.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1961 in Lancaster, Ohio, the son of the late Donald and Shirley (nee Myers) Tener who affectionately referred to their son as Mike.
Chuck graduated from Liberty Union High School, Class of 1980. He married the former Brenda Wine on June 27, 1987.
Chuck worked as an Agronomist all of his professional career having been employed most recently at Nutrien Ag Solutions. In his spare time, he also helped serve at Exclusively Yours Catering.
He was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Sullivan. Throughout his life, Chuck was an avid fisherman, hunter of both pheasant and waterfowl. He enjoyed taking time to make his own ammunition for his hobby. Chuck was a fan of Cleveland sports both the Guardians and the Browns and loved traveling to South Dakota and Rice Lake in Ontario, Canada with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mrs. Brenda Tener of Sullivan, two daughters, Becky (Drew) Meziere of Ashland, Holly (Eli) Tener-Benko of Wellington; four grandsons, Harrison and Lincoln Meziere, Cam Benko, and Carter Meziere; one sister, Vera Welker of Zanesville, two brothers-in-law, Jim (Debbie) Wine Jr. of Sullivan and Tim (Sandy) Wine of Sullivan, one aunt, Bev Tener of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by an unborn son; his brother, Dan (Janet) Tener; a brother-in-law, Steve Welker; his father-in-law and mother in-law, Jim and Gina Wine and his faithful canine companion, his yellow Labrador, Cooper.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 503 US-224, Sullivan, OH 44880 with Rev. Dr. Drew Meziere and Rev. Howard Horton presiding. Interment will follow in the Sullivan Southview Cemetery. Friends may visit on Monday evening, Feb. 24, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
