AVON LAKE — Ashland flexed its muscle at the Division I Avon Lake sectional tournament.
Five wrestlers won individual titles and four others took runner-up honors as the Arrows thundered to the team title Saturday.
Ashland finished with 255.5 points. Avon Lake (241.5) was second and Medina (184.5) was third.
Max Ohl (113), Mason Bauer (126), Guardian Miller (144), Cooper Smith (190) and Drayston Martin (215) all claimed individual championships. Tyson Mateo (106), Tuff Hutcheson (138), Talon Boyd (165) and Hayden DiPuccio (175) were runners-up.
The Arrows also had a pair of third-place finishers in Isaak Wickham (132) and Dylan Wodzisz (285).
Division III
Crestview 165-pounder Jack Stephens won a sectional title at Plymouth, while Qwintin Howard was runner-up at 132.
Brayden Parrigan took third at 138. Andrew Mitchell (144) and Bronson Rose (215) were fourth.
Both Loudonville and Mapleton were in action at the Northwestern sectional. Five Redbirds and four Mounties punched their tickets to next week’s district meet.
Braden Marotta led the Redbirds with a runner-up finish at 150 pounds. Brady Smith was third at 144, while Wyatt Denslow (113), Josh Brown (120) and Trevor Dawson (165) were fourth.
For the Mounties, Chase Sword (126) and Lukus Jenkins (285) were third. Mason Sword (138) and Landon Jenkins (157) were fourth.
Hillsdale was in action at the rugged Waynedale sectional and three Falcons advanced to next week’s district meet.
Junior Garrett Furr led the charge, finishing second at 285. Colt McCoy (190) and Landon Thomas (215) were third.
