RITTMAN — Hillsdale’s Jordyn Fickes etched her name in the Ohio high school softball history book Tuesday afternoon.

A sophomore centerfielder, Fickes belted two grand slams in the first inning of the Falcons’ 16-0 win over Rittman.

Unofficially, Fickes is just the third player in state history to hit a pair of grand slams in the same inning. She joins Wapakoneta’s Addison Fisher and New Riegel’s Lacey Schalk. Schalk accomplished the feat earlier this season.

Additionally, Fickes became just the fourth player in state history with eight runs batted in in an inning. She joined Fisher, Schalk and Jackson’s Raylene Hammond.

The Falcons loaded the bases with one out in the first when Fickes came to the plate for the first time Tuesday. She got ahead in the count 2-0 before launching her first bomb to left to lift Hillsdale to a 4-0 lead.

She came to the plate again with two out in the first and the bases loaded. Fickes took a strike before unloading to straight-away center to give Hillsdale a 12-0 lead.

For the season, Fickes is batting .488 with 17 RBIs, five home runs and six doubles. She was a Division III All-Ohio honorable mention selection last spring, when she batted .549 with 33 RBIs and eight homers.
