Marjorie Louise Elson, 89 of Ashland passed from this life on Monday evening, June 23, 2025 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 5, 1935 in Ashland County, the daughter of the late Wayne Robert and Lera Ruth (nee Flickinger) Fox. Her parents were tenant farmers on the Riley Farm, which is now the Industrial Parkway in Ashland.
Marge graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1954. On July 17, 1954 she married the love of her life, Gaylord Harold Elson.
In her earlier years, Marge worked at Cleveland Avenue Market and Kroger. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed life on Hilltop Dairy Farm with her family, always helping with the milking schedule and holding her own around the farm.
She was a devoted member of the Polk Church of Christ where she was always helping. Marge’s greatest accomplishment was her family; she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always baking and cooking at the house. If you left hungry after stopping by, it was your own doing, as Marge always insisted you get something to eat as soon as you walked in the door. She was always well stocked with sweet treats to share.
Marge is survived by three sons, Steve (Robin) Elson, Ronald (Charlotte) Elson and Jim (Darlene) Elson all of Ashland. Grandkids include: Mike Stroub, Levi Elson, Brittany (Jerret) Schmidt, David (Jessica) Elson, Tiffany Elson, Jesse (Lauren) Elson, and Curtis (Halley) Elson. Great Grandkids: Jordan (Kelly) Stroub, Zach (Kim) Stroub, Nate (Victoria) Stroub, Trevor (Chloee) Stroub, Cayleigh Elson, McKinley Gibbons, Tucker Elson, Laura Elson and Ella Elson. Great, Great Grandkids: Addison, Hayden, Aubrey, Gunner, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Jameson and Jensen Stroub.
In addition to her parents, Marge is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Gaylord who passed from this life on April 17, 2021; two brothers, David and Robert Fox; and one sister, Mary E. Rogers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Graves presiding. Interment will follow in the Nankin Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
