MANSFIELD — Helmets were snapped and passes were thrown Tuesday at Arlin Field, a full month before the start of high school football season.
Teams from Mansfield Senior Crestview, Cleveland Glenville, Marion Harding and Big Walnut competed in the 7-on-7 event in Mansfield.
Crestview went 5-2 in the Firelands Conference last season and reached the state playoffs. But the Cougars were bounced in the first round to finish 5-6.
Coach Steve Haverdill is the veteran skipper of the Cougars. Crestview opens the season on Aug. 22 at Seneca East.
Antonio Fletcher is taking over the reigns for the Tygers in his first season as head coach. He succeeds the school’s all-time wins leader, Chioke Bradley, who had the post for 15 years.
Senior High is looking to rebound from a 1-9 campaign. Mansfield Senior will host Hilliard Davidson in the Aug. 22 opener at Arlin Field.
Practice for the upcoming high school football season begins Aug. 1 across the state. The season opens Aug. 22.
