ASHLAND — The Ashland Symphony Orchestra presents its 56th season, “Your Passport to Great Music!” starting next month.
The opening show will be on Saturday, Sept. 13.
“Boarding Pass,” features the relatively unknown, but fabulously romantic, music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor: Suite from “24 Negro Melodies” and Toussaint L’Ouverture.
The ASO is excited to bring cellist Amit Peled to Ashland to perform Cello Concerto in B minor by Antonín Dvořák.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, “Take Off” features oboist Dwight Parry performing Ralph Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto in A minor (1944).
The ASO will explore pieces from different periods of Classical music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No.29 (1774), Air and Dance (1915) by Frederick Delius,and Chokfi’ (2018) by Jerod Impichchaachaahaa’ Tate, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
The Sunday, Nov. 30 show will be “Holiday Pops.”

The Saturday, Jan. 24, show is titled “Beverage Service.”
The ASO collaborates with Goldberry Roasting Company to bring you a multisensory event featuring a coffee tasting, and stories and music from coffee growing regions around the globe.
On Saturday, March 21, the event is titled “In-Flight Entertainment.”
Ashland Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor and Grammy winner Michael Repper will give descriptions and examples of the music throughout the performance.
On the program are Homage to Erik Satie by Alan Shulman featuring ASO’s own principal cellist Jeffrey Singler, Symphony No.7 by Ludwig van Beethoven, and Rounds for Strings and Piano, with Repper at the keys.
On Saturday, April 18, the orchestra will have reached the “Destination.” The ASO closes the season with Bal Masqué by Amy Beach, Unfinished Symphony Franz Schubert, and Heroic Symphony by Alexander Borodin.
All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Robert M. & Janet L. Archer Auditorium at Ashland High School.
