Ashland finally found a way to top Mansfield 70-65 in Ohio boys basketball on Dec. 19.

Mansfield showed it was ready to play, using an early thrust to carve out a 20-18 advantage over Ashland as the first quarter ended.

The Tygers proved they would be a force to be reckoned with by building a 33-28 advantage over the Arrows at the half.

The scoreboard showed Mansfield with a 54-50 lead over Ashland heading into the third quarter.

A 20-11 scoring edge in the fourth quarter fueled the Arrows’ defeat of the Tygers.

Last season, Mansfield and Ashland squared off on Jan. 24, 2025 at Mansfield High School.

In recent action on Dec. 13, Ashland faced off against Painesville Riverside and Mansfield took on New Philadelphia on Dec. 12 at Mansfield High School.
