A winter weather advisory is in effect for an area that includes Richland and Ashland counties until Saturday at 1 a.m.

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland said snow and blowing snow are expected. Total snow accumulations of two to four inches are possible.

Winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour are expected this evening and tonight.

The NWS said to plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow can reduce visibility. Snow began falling across the area early Friday morning and is expected to impact morning and evening commutes to work and school.

According to the NWS, a period of light to moderate snow is expected Friday morning. After a few hours of dry weather Friday afternoon, snow showers and squalls with wind gusts up to 45 mph and falling temperatures will lead to blowing and drifting snow and hazardous conditions.
