ASHLAND COUNTY — Thousands of Ashland County residents are still without power Friday evening as winds continue to roar.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for several Ohio counties Friday, including Richland, Ashland, Knox, Morrow and Crawford. That warning expired at 8 p.m., but winds remain strong.

Friday night’s forecast from NWS calls for lows in the upper 20s with west winds blowing 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Winds are forecasted to diminish to 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, after midnight.

Saturday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy conditions with highs in the mid 40s and northwest winds blowing 10 to 15 mph.

Ohio Edison, a FirstEnergy Company, reported 8,187 customers in Ashland County are still without power as of 8:34 p.m. Friday, according to FirstEnergy’s outage map.

AEP Ohio reported 720 Ashland County customers are without power as of 8:34 p.m., according to its outage map.

As of 8:38 p.m., Firelands Electric Cooperative reported 845 of its customers in Ashland County are still without power, according to its outage map.
