MAANSFIELD – The 4th-8th grade academic challenge teams competed in their second tournament of the season this month through the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.
We want to congratulate ALL competitors, but especially our winners for each tournament.

March 11 (4th Grade)
4th-grade teams: Buckeye Central A & B; Colonel Crawford A & B; Crestview A & B; Discovery; Lexington A & B; Mansfield City; Mansfield Spanish Immersion A & B; Northmor A & B; Ontario; Plymouth-Shiloh; Sacred Heart; St. Peter’s; Shelby; Wooster Cornerstone, Parkview, Kean, and Melrose and Wynford A & B.
Lexington A took first place with a score of 103, beating Crestview A who scored 94. Lexington A is made up of Josephine B., Graham C., Everett H. and Evelyn L. while Crestview A includes Kenzie Bernhard, Julianna Fennewald, Eli Korbas and Ezra Kelley.
March 12 (5th Grade)
5th-grade teams: Colonel Crawford A & B; Crestview A & B; Discovery; Lexington A & B; Malabar; Mansfield Christian A & B; Mansfield Spanish Immersion; Northmor A & B; Ontario A & B; Plymouth-Shiloh; Sacred Heart; Shelby A & B; St. Mary’s of Mansfield; St. Peter’s; Wooster A & B and Wynford A & B.
St. Peter’s took first place with a score of 96, narrowly beating Mansfield Christian A who scored 92.4. St. Peter’s team includes Elizabeth Hoyek, Oliver Mulherin, Theo Rohl, Precious Ojo and Success Ojo. Mansfield Christian A is made up of Sam Stull, Charlee Walker, Caleb Brenneman and Joseph Stauffer.
March 18 (6th Grade)

St. Peter’s and Wooster A & B Wooster took a clean sweep of the top two spots in the 6th grade tournament with Wooster A taking first and Wooster B coming in second.
Wooster A’s team includes Alec Feierabend, Cora Feierabend, Harrison Sutter, Ethan Conrad, Matthew Norris, Dorian Van Gray, Eva Bacon, Aubrey, Chelsea Schantz and Jaxon Dye.
Wooster B’s team members are Asher Dewald, Charlie Fishburn, Jack McGrady, Zoey Thompson, Katie Bradham, Lexi Zvolensky, Quinn Lambert, Talon Gaines, Andrew Jeon and Winston Kaylor.
March 19 (7th/8th Grade)

Lexington A took first place with a score of 103 beating out Northwestern who had 83 points. Lexington A includes Carter G., Ben M., Coulter S., Brody S. and Archer T.
Northwestern members include: Cash Russell, Madison Snow, Pierce Reynolds, Colt Nolletti and Emily Posta.
March 12 (high school)
Varsity A Bracket teams: Buckeye Central, Crestview, Highland, Lexington and Shelby Varsity B Bracket teams: Galion, Hillsdale, Loudonville, Mt. Gilead and Plymouth-Shiloh.
JV Bracket teams: Buckeye Central, Crestview, Galion, Highland, Lexington, Loudonville, Mt. Gilead and Shelby
For varsity, Buckeye Central won bracket A and took on bracket B winner Mt. Gilead in the final.
Buckeye Central team members are Titus Beeson, Jake Rafferty, Samatha Auck and Blaise Metzger.
Mt. Gilead team members include Maddie Robbins, Seth Young, Neko Biederman, Gabby Cuevas, Hunter Evans, Lilly Martin, Ava Charles and Avery Martin.
The JV had one bracket so the top two teams went to the final: Highland vs. Lexington.
Lexington’s JV team includes Nathan M., Ella R. and and Jesse S.
Highland’s team includes Drennyn Mooty, Zane Granger, Mason Johnson, Josh Van Horne, Boden Coffee, Serenity Hardee and Mohammad Matin.
March 13 (high school)
Varsity Bracket A teams: Madison, Mansfield Christian, Mt. Vernon, Ontario and Tiffin Varsity Bracket B teams: Ashland, Clear Fork, Mapleton, Northmor and St. Peter’s.
JV Bracket A: Madison, Mansfield Christian, Mt. Vernon, Ontario and Tiffin.
JV Bracket B: Ashland, Clear Fork, Mapleton, Northmor and St. Peter’s.
For varsity, Tiffin won bracket A and took on bracket B winner Northmor. Tiffin was victorious 44-36.
Tiffin’s roster includes Amelia Miller (captain), Kenton Fell (captain), Christian Keefe, Angela Liu, Iris Roszman, Ash McAfee and Lily Perez.
Northmor’s team includes Kate Lehman, Dane Creswell, Kyran Hile, Mackenzie Card and Alex Threadgill.
For JV, Mount Vernon took on Ashland with Ashland pulling out the narrow victory 39-37.
Team members from Ashland are Samantha Mauriocourt, Abbi Taylor, Laney Zimmerman, Connor Cunningham, Gwenyth Miller and Kaley Stofer.
Mount Vernon’s team includes Evan Guillory, Dash McCoy and Jordan Wheeler.
High School Winter League
The High School Academic Challenge Winter League took place on Feb. 16, March 2 and March 9. The varsity league was split into three divisions.
Varsity Division A teams: Crestview, Clear Fork, Galion, Highland, Loudonville and Northmor Highland took the top place in Division A.
The team consists of Mary Green, Nevin Zerby, Hendrick Karya, Hayden Brooks and Mehraneh Matin.
Varsity Division B teams: Ashland, Hillsdale, Mt. Gilead, Ontario, Plymouth-Shiloh and St. Peter’s.
Ontario took 1st in Division B with team members Xander Ellison, Justin Switaj, Parker Willis, Alexis Cloud, Adelina Hines, Will Wang, Daycee Schlotterer and Angel Tan.
Varsity Division C teams: Buckeye Central, Lexington, Madison and Mansfield Christian.
Mansfield Christian took 1st in Division C with team members Adam Ebersole, Grady Heichel, Levi Leach, Caleb Miller (winter only) and Elijah Martin.
JV teams: Ashland, Buckeye Central, Clearfork, Crestview, Galion, Highland, Lexington, Loudonville, Madison, Mansfield Christian A & B, Mt. Gilead, Northmor and Ontario.
Lexington won the JV bracket. The team consists of Nathan M., Ella R. and Jesse S.
