Rebecca Whitmore, 75 of Columbus, formerly of Ashland passed from this life on Friday evening, August 14, 2026, in Mount Carmel East Hospital.
She was born on April 18, 1951, in Ashland the daughter of the late Robert E. and Margery (nee Stotler) Kauffman.
Becky graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1970. Following her graduation, she studied for two years and earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Lorain Community College.
She married the love of her life, Jerry L. Whitmore, on June 8, 1991.
Becky was employed in nursing all her career, retiring from Hospice of North Central Ohio. She was previously employed at Brethren Care Village and Heartland Home.
She was a devoted member of Park Street Brethren Church, the Eagles Club and Wiggle town. Throughout her life she enjoyed knitting and reading.
Becky is survived by two step sons, Jerry (Meg) Whitmore of West Salem and John (Michelle) Whitmore of Shelby; two step daughters, Tammy (Chuck) Warner of Mansfield and Dodi Barker of Mansfield; a son-in-law, Raymond Johnson of Ashland; three sisters, Bonnie Jones of Columbus, Barbara Wheeler of Ashland, Sandy (Art) Williams of Toledo; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Whitmore of Mansfield, Beverly Brinker of Nova and Sharon (Louis) Burkholder of Nova; and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and special friends.
In addition to her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years, Jerry, who passed away on March 4, 2018; one stepdaughter, Lora Whitmore; one stepson, Chad Whitmore; and three brothers-in-law, Bill Whitmore, Robert Wheeler, and Ronald Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Park Street Brethren Church, 619 Park Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
