Frances P. Rasmussen, 85 of Ashland, formerly of Machipongo, Virginia passed away on Wednesday evening, September 9, 2026, in the Kingston of Ashland.
She was born on November 26, 1940, in Ashland the daughter of the late, Bernard and Gladys (nee Bush) Schmidt.
Frances married Stewart Rasmussen on June 26, 1965.
She retired from the United States Army after more than 20 years of service.
Frances was a devoted member of King Road Christian Church, Eastern Star, Eagles Club, and the American Legion. She enjoyed working on word puzzles, reading books, and watching both murder mysteries and Jeopardy.
She is survived by her loving son, Thomas Rasmussen of Ashland; two grandchildren, Brandon and Emily; three siblings, Marcelle Bragg of Ashland, Mary Scarbro of Tennessee, David Schmidt of Ashland, and Pauline (Larry) Aulger of Ashland.
In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Stewart who passed away on September 29, 2000; her two siblings, Ruth Ann (William) Miller and Eugene (Donna) Schmidt; and her brothers and sister-in-law, James Bragg, Douglas Scarbro, and Trudy Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Pate presiding. The Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A meal and time of fellowship will be available in the Legacy Room throughout visitation. Interment will be in the Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to King Road Christian Church, 1425 King Road, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
