LOUDONVILLE — The fall calendar is already filling up at Loudonville-Perrysville schools — just four weeks into the school year.
Loudonville-Perrysville Supt. Jennifer Allerding highlighted several upcoming events and activities at Monday night’s board of education meeting.
The school year began with a welcome from the Hope Squad. A banner displayed in the school hallway features the names of every student in the district, including students attending the career center, Delroy and specialized schools.
Here are some dates to keep in mind:
Ashland County Fair
The Loudonville High School marching band will take part in the Ashland County Fair Parade of Bands at 1 p.m. Sept. 20.
The band is among several student groups in the parade. The Ashland County Fair runs Sept. 20 to 26 at the Ashland County Fairgrounds.
Homecoming
Loudonville High School’s homecoming is set for Sept. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The homecoming football game is Sept. 25 against Centerburg High School at 7 p.m.
Loudonville Street Fair
The Loudonville Street Fair will run Oct. 6 to 10, with Loudonville-Perrysville students participating in activities throughout the week.
Allerding encouraged families and community members to attend student events, scholarship presentations and other activities during the fair.
Schools will also be closed Oct. 8 and 9 for the fair.
Career Center open house
An open house will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Heartland Technical Education Center, 1783 state Route 60. This event gives families and community members an opportunity to see the building and the work that has gone into the project.
Construction and road closures are affecting the area around the Career Center. Board member David Hunter advised parents and students to avoid taking 511 across Route 30 because of the closures.
Anyone attending the open house should allow extra time for travel.
McMullen Halloween parade
McMullen Elementary will hold its Halloween parade at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 30.
The community is invited to the parade and bring candy to hand out for the kids.
LHS students head to McMullen
A new program this school year is bringing Loudonville High School students to McMullen Elementary on Friday mornings.
High school students have been visiting the elementary school to welcome younger students and lead activities before the school day begins.
Allerding said students at both schools have enjoyed the opportunity, describing it as a chance for older students to invest in the lives of younger students.
