ASHLAND — Democratic candidate Heather Sample continues her commitment to the district despite Tuesday’s election loss to Rep. Melanie Miller.
Heather L. Sample issued the following statement:
“I just got off the phone with Representative Melanie Miller, congratulated her on her victory, and offered to work with her on her behalf of the people of this district.
One thing I shared with Melanie is that when we come together and have respectful, civil conversations, we can accomplish more for the people we serve. Even where we disagree, there is room to listen, find common ground and move our communities forward.
I also had the opportunity to speak with Mayor Miller, who expressed his appreciation for the clean race we ran. I’m proud of the campaign we built and the way our team represented our values throughout it.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, volunteered and believed in what we could accomplish together. My commitment to this district continues, and I’ll keep showing up for the people who call it home.
