ASHLAND — A local general contractor intends to double its footprint at its location along the Ashland-Richland County line.
On Monday afternoon, the owners and employees at Bo Lacey celebrated their upcoming expansion with a groundbreaking ceremony, organized by the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce.
The new two-story building will be constructed directly beside the existing space at 1472 US-42. It will feature four to five additional offices, a conference room, an employee gym and an outdoor green space behind the building.
“We’re bursting at the seams of our office now,” co-owner and president Jon Qualls said. “We moved in here 2015 from our old office, and we thought we’d be good for a long time, but with the blessings of our local community, we’ve been able grow significantly over the past few years even with COVID.”
Qualls and his business partner Kevin Lacey took over operations and moved Bo Lacey from Greenwich to Ashland in 2012, after Lacey’s father and former business owner passed.
The small business of only a few has grown to employ 27 people full-time. Additionally, the business works with sub-contractors.
The general contractor business acts as a full remodeling company, offering roofing, siding, windows and more.
Bo Lacey was founded in 1984. The business relocated to Ashland in 2012 and moved into its current location in 2015.
Qualls anticipates the expansion will be complete within two-months after the concrete foundation is poured. He hopes that can happen sometime in the next month.
“(The expansion) allows us the space we need to keep on growing in our community,” he said.
