We asked Ashland Source readers to tell us about their favorite Christmas light displays in and around Ashland.

Boy, did you deliver!

Here’s a list of eight of the best-decked homes and businesses in the area, according to Ashland Source readers:

1. The Top Dog

If there was an award for most lights and lighted figures per square foot, Cindy Harris of Cindy’s Grooming Boutique would easily take the title. That’s what makes 1518 Township Rd 1153 a popular spot visitors, including Jessica Ross, who nominated the boutique for this list. The boutique’s yard is packed with blow molds, lighted figures and inflatable characters, and visitors are encouraged to drive through and enjoy the display.

2. Up on the Rooftop

Well worth the drive out of the city, 1049 Township Road 1806 is a sight to behold. The address was nominated by Steve Watson, who said he goes to see the lights every year. The display is impressive from the road with string lights on a rooftop spelling out “Snowflakes R Kisses From Heaven.” A sign beckons, “Drive on In,” ushering viewers down a long driveway full of holiday characters and additional lights.

3. Brilliant Array

Several readers nominated a perennial favorite at 1344 Township Road 1353, where resident Danny Johnson has lined his entire driveway with colorful Christmas trees made from LED lights. The display also features an impressive array of lighted arches and rows of string lights along every edge of the house.

4. Musical Experience

Nominated by a handful of readers, Mitch Johnson’s light display at 1542 S. Baney Road is nothing short of delightful. It features about 70,000 lights including many that move, and some days, you’ll even find Santa at the house. If you drive past, roll down the windows– Johnson’s display is complete with Christmas music.

5. Community of Lights

Take a drive through Brethren Care Village campus and you’ll see the spectacle is not just for passersby. The senior living complex spared no expense to make the season bright for residents by lighting trees and buildings throughout the grounds. Be sure to look for the Christmas tree outside the entrance of Belmont Tower.

6. Sparkling Street

Many neighbors along Sloan Avenue have decked their halls, making for a beautiful stretch from Hillcrest Drive to East Main Street, noted reader Trudy Zarzyczny. If you visit, be sure to notice some nice displays along neighboring Hillcrest Drive and Bank Street as well.

7. Sweet Display

A few neighbors on Meadow Lane also go all-out for Christmas. Among them is Josh Garn, whose house at 1354 Meadow Lane was nominated by Joe Reep for having “the biggest candy cane ever” in the yard.

8. Humor and Charm

The owner of 1460 Center Lane Drive must love holidays. She decorates heavily for every festive season. “There’s a wonderful display every holiday with such charm and humor,” Reader Leslie Osborn wrote. “Her Christmas one is great, blow molds and lights and animals decked out!”
