CHILLICOTHE — The Crestview boys brought some serious hardware back from Southeastern High School.
So did St. Peter’s hurdler Donovan Duncan.
The Cougars won a team championship at the Division III Chillicothe regional meet, while Duncan claimed a pair of individual titles on an unseasonably cool and windy Friday evening.
Crestview finished with 70 points, well ahead of runner-up Grandview Heights (58). Adena (55) was third.
Duncan won the 110 meter hurdles in 14.71 seconds, while Colonel Crawford freshman Trevor Vogt also earned a state berth with a fourth-place finish of 15.62. Ducan also won the 300 hurdles in 40.98 while Crestview’s Chase Shifflet was second in 41.34.
Crestview’s Ross Kuhn picked up two more regional titles Friday to go with the one he won as a member of Crestview’s winning 4×800 team Wednesday. Kuhn won the 800 in 1:57.07 while teammate Gabe Smedley was third (2:00.45). Kuhn and Smedley then teamed with Evan Gibbs and Evan Hamilton to win the 4×400 in 3:33.40. The Colonel Crawford team of Ethan Holt, Ryan McMichael, Jacob Aubrey and Gavin Trubee was fourth in 3:38.62.
Crestview’s Tanner Moore took fourth in the 100 meter dash (11.09) and ran the anchor leg on both the state-qualifying 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams. Moore was joined by Adison Reymer, Hamilton and Rashaun Barber in the 4×200, finishing in 1:32.73. Moore, Reymer, Hamilton and Shifflet were second in the 4×100 in 44.98.
Colonel Crawford’s Carter Valentine also earned a trip to state in the high jump. Valentine finished third with a leap of 6-feet, 2-inches.
On the girls’ side, Crestview’s Morgan Welch earned a state berth in the 1,600, finishing fourth in 5:19.96. Teammate Reagan Garrett was third in the discus competition with a throw of 121-9.
