NANKIN — Evan Hamilton proved to be the star on both sides of the ball and Crestview followed his light to a 32-6 romp over Mapleton on Friday night in Firelands Conference action.
The junior defensive back picked off his third interception of the season and raced 32 yards for a score to give the Cougars an early 6-0 lead.
Later in the first half, Hamilton tacked on a pair of TD catches of 25 and 20 yards from quarterback Ross Kuhn to help Crestview pull away from a 6-6 tie and set the course for a convincing victory.
The Mounties’ lone score came in the second quarter when quarterback Gage Scurlock connected with Beau Galbraith for a 47-yard touchdown. But it was all Cougars’ after that dart.
Sage Baith and Chase Shifflet tacked on a pair of TDs to finish it in the second half.
Crestview improves to 3-1, 1-0 in the conference. The Cougars host Norwalk St. Paul on Friday night.
Mapleton dips to 0-4, 0-1. The Mounties host South Central next week.
