TOLEDO — The 2021 Toledo Beer & Bacon Fest is all local again this year celebrating locally made craft beer from more than 20 Northwest Ohio breweries — including many newer breweries like Buffalo Rock, 60cc and HEAVY Beer — and pairing it with great Hungarian-inspired bacon dishes.
The event, hosted by The Hungarian Club of Toledo and the Glass City Mashers will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at The Hungarian Club of Toledo, 224 Paine Ave., in the historic Birmingham Neighborhood of East Toledo.
This year the festival has also added beer alternatives like mead, cider and hard seltzer options. Bacon-inspired food, such as Hunky Turkey, Birmingham Hot Dogs, Bacon Rice Krispies and more will also be available for sale. Mobile food truck Pepperoni Tony will be selling bacon-inspired wood-fired pizzas as well.
Festival-goers will be able to try the best craft beers from Northwest Ohio along with bacon-inspired dishes.
More than 20 places from the 419 area code will be on hand, including Toledo’s earnest brew works, Four Fires Meadery, Funky Turtle, Great Black Swamp, Maumee Bay and Patron Saints along with other area breweries such as Wild Side and Quenched & Tempered (Grand Rapids, Ohio), Inside the Five & Upside (Sylvania), Findlay Brewing, Catawba Island, Twin Oast, 4KD Crick (Defiance), Moeller Brew Barn and Laird Arcade (Tiffin).
New breweries to the fest this year include Toledo’s 60cc and HEAVY Beer, Buffalo Rock (Waterville), Aistear (Bowling Green), Crafted Nano (Findlay), and Pavlov’s (Temperance, Mich.).
Some of the breweries are making special “one-off” beers for the event, some even centered on bacon. Five breweries teamed with local homebrewers from the Glass City Mashers to create beers on a professional scale and those will be available at the festival as well.
Games, such as a large Jenga set and cornhole boards will also be on hand while the Perrysburg Auto Mall and earnest brew works present the music stage with Katie’s Randy Cat, Calico Cabaret and Pop’s Garage. A homebrew demonstration from the Glass City Mashers will take place at the fest, creating a beer during the five-hour event.
Tickets are $30 in advance — $45 for VIP — and $35 at the door. One general admission ticket includes 10 beer samples and gate entry for adults 21 years and older. Additional beer and food sample tickets will be sold at the event.
Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite.com (search for Toledo Beer and Bacon) or through the Toledo Beer and Bacon Facebook event page.
