Perry Township House Fire

The home at 234 Township Road 1550 was destroyed by a fire that killed three children Sunday night.

ROWSBURG – The Ashland County Coroner's Office has identified the three children who died in a house fire in Ashland County's Perry Township Sunday night.

The victims were 12-year-old Faith Bogavich, 4-year-old Delaney Bogavich and 1-year-old John Jeffrey (also known as J.J.) Bogavich, coroner's investigator Jenny Taylor said. All three died of smoke inhalation.

Ashland County Emergency Management Agency Director Mark Rafeld said Monday a house at 234 Township Road 1550 was fully engulfed in flames when members of the Jeromesville Fire Department arrived around midnight. The home is between Rowsburg and Jeromesville in rural Perry Township.

The children's parents were home at the time of the fire and sustained burns, though the severity of the burns hasn't been released. Another child escaped the house; their age and injuries are unknown.

The house was destroyed, according to Rafeld.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal's office was called to the scene, along with several other area fire departments.

The fire remained under investigation as of Monday afternoon. More information will be reported as it becomes available.
