The renewal of a 2.1-mill levy, along with a 1-mill increase, for the Ashland County Board of Developmental Disabilities was unsuccessful Tuesday evening.

According to final, unofficial vote totals from the Ashland County Board of Elections, the measure failed by a count of 9,987 (50.75 percent) in favor and 9,690 (49.25) opposed.

Combined, the three-year, 3.1-mill levy was estimated to collect $4,704,229 annually, according to the county auditor, for the purpose of the operation of Dale-Roy programs and facilities.

The levy would have cost Ashland County homeowners $77 per each $100,000 of the auditor’s market value.
