The renewal of a 2-mill levy, shared equally (50/50) between the Ashland County Council on Aging and Ashland County Department of Job and Family Services, was successful Tuesday evening.
According to final, unofficial vote totals from the Ashland County Board of Elections, the measure passed by a count of 11,764 (59.86 percent) in favor and 7,890 (40.14) opposed.
According to the county auditor, the levy is estimated to generate $3,083,167 annually at a cost to county homeowners of $49 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value.
As a renewal, this is money that’s already being paid by such a property owner and is not a new tax.
