ASHLAND – A long-time downtown business celebrated its expansion Thursday afternoon with a ribbon cutting at Kid’s Kountry & More’s second location in Buehler’s Fresh Foods.

Civic and community leaders were on-hand for the event, congratulating owner Janice Glenn on her success and wishing her well in the new endeavor.

“Kid’s Kountry has been a huge part of downtown for many years and they’re not closing downtown, they’re expanding. Because that’s what we do downtown, we take great businesses and make them even better,” said Sandra Hedlund Tunnell, Executive Director of Main Street Ashland. “This is a good example of what the downtown can do and we are just so happy for her and thrilled that she is expanding.”

The new location opened June 1 in the grocery store, with a sampling of the items carried at the downtown location, 33 W. Main St., including children’s clothes and shoes, and women’s shoes.

Glenn, who purchased the downtown location in 2014, said she chose to expand into Buehler’s to take advantage of the location and try to increase the visibility for her business.

“I still meet people from Ashland who say ‘I’ve never heard of your store’ and Kid’s Kountry has been here for 40 years downtown,” Glenn said. “It’s kind of like a showcase for us. Hopefully it will drive more business downtown. But there’s also an opportunity to come here, have lunch, get an ice cream, get your groceries and get a baby bib. So it’s perfect.”

“We’re excited. Buehler’s has been great to work with,” Glenn said.

The Buehler’s location will be open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
