University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center nurses Mary Neff, Tabbetha Rose, Kathy Strine, Brenda Winland, and Stephanie Shaffer were recently recognized with a Celebrate Nursing Excellence award.

ASHLAND — University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center nurses Mary Neff, Tabbetha Rose, Kathy Strine, Brenda Winland, and Stephanie Shaffer were recently recognized with a Celebrate Nursing Excellence award. Rose, a Birthing and Women’s Unit nurse, was awarded the top prize of a money voucher toward continuing clinical education.

Neff, director of Perioperative Services and Ambulatory Care Medicine; Strine, a nurse with the Samaritan Professional Corporation; Winland, a joint replacement nurse educator; and Shaffer, an Ambulatory Medical Surgical Unit nurse, also received a clinical education money voucher.

The Celebrate Nursing Excellence award program was adopted by UH Samaritan in 2012 as a way to recognize and celebrate nurses who exemplify the nursing profession and who portrays compassion, respect, kindness, honesty, empathy, integrity, and understanding toward others. Nominations were received from patients, the general public, and clinical and non-clinical staff at UH Samaritan.

Additional UH Samaritan nurses who were nominated for the Celebrate Nursing Excellence award program included: Jessica Abel, Christy Constance, Heather Flinner, Linda Fozio, Betsy Gray, Kim Hershner, Denise Holmes, Tasha Hummel, Nancy Hunt, Bev Iceman, Tina Kopp, Laura Murr, Michele Prise, Ryan Ramsey, Lisa Riley, and Jen Willis.
