ASHLAND — Ashland Police have released the 911 call that came from a woman being held against her will in a home on Covert Court Tuesday morning.
The victim’s name and address are redacted from the 20-minute call, but her rescue is captured on the call, which was made at 6:47 a.m. Tuesday.
After receiving the call, police responded to the home and found the woman alive and arrested 40-year-old Shawn Grate.
Remains of two people were found in the residence when police searched the two homes on Covert Court Tuesday after the 911 call.
On the call, the woman can be heard speaking quietly as she says “I’ve been abducted.” She tells the dispatcher that she is being held in a house near Fourth Street Laundromat. She says that Grate is sleeping in the same room where she was calling from. When asked if he has a weapon she responds that he has a Taser.
At one point in the call, there is about 8 minutes of silence because the woman feared she had woken him up while speaking on the phone.
At the end of the call, the police arrive and take Grate into custody.
