ASHLAND – The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University will hold a juried exhibition featuring 48 works created by the members of the Ashland Community Arts League.

The exhibition opens Friday, May 19, and the works on view will range from painting, ceramics, photography, fiber arts, printmaking, glass and mixed media.

The juror for the exhibition was watercolorist Cathy Welner from Richfield, Ohio. For over 28 years, Welner has been teaching watercolor and has served as faculty of Continuing Education at the Cleveland Institute of Art and has taught workshops nationally and internationally, including a recent workshop on Lake Como, Italy.

Welner’s work has been featured in galleries in New York, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts and Ohio. Her work hangs in hundreds of private and corporate collections both here and abroad.

The Ashland Community Arts League juried exhibition opens May 19 with a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. featuring live entertainment by “Rock Salt & Nails,” a local band of visual artists from Alliance, Ohio, performing original folk and traditional acoustic music.

The event coincides with the Ashland Regional Ballet & Opus II Dance Studio’s 35th Annual Spring Dance Concert titled “Cinderella” on May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hugo Young Theatre (Ashland University).

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10am-noon Friday and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is free and open to the public. For more information about the opening reception or the exhibition, call 419.289.5652 or visit us on Facebook.
