LOUDONVILLE – Building on his 2016 appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s “Hotel Hell” TV show, Jimmy Landoll has enjoyed unprecedented growth at Landoll’s Mohican Castle, and that growth has spurred expansion at the Castle.

“It’s hard to believe what the past year has brought since our episode aired in July 2016,” general manager Landoll said.

Landoll said expansion has been in the plans since the Castle opened in 2002 and the increase in business they’ve seen at the Castle and the restaurant – The Copper Mug Bar & Grille – has allowed them to finally move forward with those plans.

Set to open in Spring 2018, The Stables at Landoll’s will feature 14 new suites – seven king suites and seven double-queen suites. Each of the suites will include a two-person, glass-encased shower, along with a two-person jetted tub.

The 14 new suites will join the existing 11 Castle suites, two cottages and four suites in the Highland building, boosting the Castle’s capacity to 122 people in overnight accommodations.

“The addition of The Stables allows us to host larger wedding parties, family reunions, corporate retreats and motor coach vacation tour groups,” Landoll said.

Landoll is using local construction company Schrock Premier Custom Construction to partner in the construction of the stables. He felt it was important to use local resources and talent for the $1 million project, which is the first phase in a two-phase expansion plan for Landoll’s Mohican Castle.

According to Landoll, phase two will be another hotel building with 20 more suites and a second event space in the location of the Castle’s former restaurant Legends.

The stunning castle was built by Jimmy’s dad, Jim Landoll, starting in 1996. It was Jim’s dream project to convert the old barn on the property into a castle, and that dream was realized when the hotel opened in 2002.

Famed chef Ramsay visited the Castle in December 2015 to film the episode which aired in July 2016. After his visit, Ramsay continued to assist Landoll, arranging for him to receive training in hotel expansion and checking upon him personnaly.

“I don’t think I was prepared for it to be this life-changing for me,” Landoll said in June 2016 after the episode aired. “It’s changed the future of this business and my family and everybody that works here. We’ve got big things planned still. We’re not stopping here.
