Matt Miller won a landslide victory for the city of Ashland's mayoral race of Sandra Tunnell.

ASHLAND — Matt Miller will be the new mayor in Ashland after winning a landslide victory in Tuesday’s election.

Miller defeated Sandra Tunnell with 3,448 votes (76.32 percent), according to the Ashland County Board of Elections unofficial results.

Miller, serving as the Ohio Department of Transportation’s deputy director of business and Human Resource, served two terms as an Ashland County Commissioner before being named the Business Administrator at the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.

Robert M. Valentine won a close victory over Paul K. Stevenson for the Ashland City Council Second Ward. Valentine earned 508 votes (51.16 votes) and Stevenson collected 485 votes (48.84 percent). There were 993 total votes.

In the Ashland City Council Third Ward race, Dennis Miller had 613 votes (57.94 percent) and Ruth G. Detrow earned 445 votes (42.06 percent).

In the Fourth Ward, Allan W. Farnam earned two thirds of the votes (411) over Sandra L. Bally who earned 211 votes.
