BELLVILLE — Linda Kidwell completed the three-peat Friday afternoon.
Kidwell shot a final-round 84 for a two-day total of 163 and a nine-stroke victory over Tammy Hammett in the Championship Flight of the Tri-County Women’s Golf Tournament at Deer Ridge Golf Club.
It was Kidwell’s third straight Tri-County title. It came on a course she had only played twice before.
“I was pleased with the way I played, especially because the greens here can be so tricky,” Kidwell said. “I was lucky I got a lot of up-and-downs today. My chipping and putting was pretty good. That saved me a lot.
“I really wasn’t sure what to expect because I had only played here twice before. I was just trying to be patient.”
Kidwell had a four-shot advantage when play began Friday morning. She shot a 43 on the front and finished with a 41 on the back to win going away. Hammett (83-89—172) was second while Trish Tracey (84-89—173) was third.
