ASHLAND – It’s not too late for community groups, organizations, businesses and individuals to take part in this year’s Ashland County Labor Day Parade, event co-chair Sean Bartley said Thursday.

“This year, the Ashland High School Band will be the featured band. We’ll have cub scout and girl scout troops and numerous business, nonprofit and political entries,” Bartley said. “We’re looking to build on the successes of last year’s parade that had 56 entries.”

The annual parade begins at 10 a.m. Monday and is sponsored by The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Ashland Lodge 1360. The parade theme will be “Takin’ Care of Business.”

Lineup and registration will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. in front of Heyl Funeral Home on Broad Street, and participants may submit entry forms until 9 a.m. on the day of the parade. The parade announcer will read a description of each business or organization as the parade participants make their way down Main Street to Union Street.

Event organizers remind participants that no candy may be thrown from floats, but it may be tossed by people walking.

Registration forms can be emailed to elks1360@yahoo.com or submitted at registration on the morning of the parade. Questions should be directed to one of the three parade co-chairs at 419-496-6367 or 740-326-0185 or 330-815-2494.
