SMITHVILLE — A 62-year-old Wooster man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon, according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the accident occurred at about 3:05 p.m. on State Route 585 near Blough Road in Wayne County.
According to the report, Terry W. Locklear was driving southbound on State Route 585 when he left of center and collided with a northbound commercial tractor-trailer. Mr. Locklear, who was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.
His body was transported to the Wooster Community Hospital.
Bruce A. Todd, 59, Lakewood, Ohio, was driving a 2014 Mack Truck, hauling a commercial box trailer. The trailer was hauling non-perishable food. Todd was northbound on State Route 585. Mr. Todd was wearing his safety belt and had no visible injuries.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by North End Garage.
Alcohol is unknown at this time and is pending lab results.
It’s the eighth fatal crash in Wayne County this year and the seventh where no safety belt was in use, the patrol said.
