MANSFIELD — The Inkcarceration Music and Tattoo Festival held at the historic Ohio State Reformatory has announced its lineup for their 2019 show.
The three-day, 30-band rock show and tattoo event will run from July 12 to July 14.
“Last year really opened doors for us. All the bands loved it,” Susan Fisher, of Adrenaline PR said. “As early as August we had bands asking us to play.”
According to their website, the bands include, Shinedown, Godsmack, Five Finger Death Punch, Live, Tacking Back Sunday, Seether, Skillet, I Prevail, Starset, Red Run Rising, Motionless In White, Fozzy, Buckcherry, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Andrew W. K., Pod, Stabbing Westward, Light The Touch, From Ashes To New, Smile Empty Soul, Eyes Set to Kill, Awake At Last, The Funeral Portrait, Kerbera, Raven Black, Beyond Unbroken, Rivals, Impending Lies, The Everyday Losers and daily performances by The Monster Dolls.
“Inkcarceration, Ohio’s rock concert event of the summer, is back and set to be bigger and better than last year’s groundbreaking weekend,” said Lee Tasseff, president of Destination Mansfield.
“You can’t beat the imposing presence of one of the world’s most (in)famous prisons, the Ohio State Reformatory,” Tasseff said. “This isn’t just a venue, it is the perfect environment for hard rock and tattoo art…there is no equal. We look forward to welcoming fans of rock music and tattoo art back to Mansfield.”
The festival will again feature more than 70 tattoo artists from across the country, a large variety of food trucks and beverages, and even a terrifying haunted house attraction – Escape from Blood Prison.
Fisher said the line up is a “wishlist” for the hosts.
“I think we have a lot of depth in this line up,” Fisher said. “Three of our headliners are in the 10 for billboards. Last year was a test drive for us. This year we are going to go big with it.”
This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Shawshank Redemption, making 2019’s Inkcarceration at the historic Ohio State Reformatory even more special, according to a press release from Adrenaline PR, who hosts the festival.
“The Reformatory is thrilled for the return of the Inkcarceration Music and Tattoo Festival in 2019,” said Dan Smith, director of creative marketing at the Ohio State Reformatory. “We had the chance to take a behind the scenes look at the upcoming lineup for this year and it is epic. You are not going want to miss this.
“Summer months are made to be enjoyed outdoors, and we can’t think of a better time than with live music and the opportunity to get a tattoo right here at the Shawshank Prison,” Smith continued. “Come prepared for a great time that you’ll be talking about all year.”

This year’s event will include the aforementioned Escape from Blood Prison attraction, which is typically held at the Ohio State Reformatory each fall. The attraction will be making a special early appearance at Inkcarceration 2019.
“It’s an honor to be able to open the doors of Blood Prison a couple months early and give the guests of Inkcarceration a few scares in July,” said Haunt Manager Vic Amesquita. “The crew at Inkcarceration are great to work with and the Warden, his family, and the Blood Prison inmates are all excited to meet the fans.”
The festival brought massive entertainment to more than 18,000 fans in its first year last year.
“Inkcarceration was truly one of the best fests I’ve played,” said Dez Fafara of DevilDriver, who performed last July. “The line-up, the location, the catering, and the crew were all top notch and the DevilDriver show was on fire thanks to the rowdiest crowd of the day. We are appreciative of the invite and would return in a heartbeat.”
