ASHLAND — Ashland City Schools’ annual May Fiesta will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19 as dozens students come together to sing, dance and put on a show filled with a variety of well-known hits and showtunes.
Each year, a theme accompanies the performance. This year’s themes is “‘M’ is for May Fiesta.” Students will sing songs from the genre of Motown, as well as selections from Mamma Mia!
The performance showcases soloists, dancers, musical accompaniment, group numbers, a capella pieces and more.
Teachers say students have worked long and hard preparing to delight the audience with a stunning ambiance that fills the entire room. With eyes closed, it’s difficult to tell the difference between this group of students and a premier professional concert in the big city.
“We probably have about 250 students,” said Kim Wolbert, Ashland High School choir director. “We also have a pit with student instrumentalists.”
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the main office in Ashland High School, Home Hardware, Irwin’s Office Supply and Mike’s Music Corner. The shows are Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and are in Archer Auditorium at Ashland High School. Tickets are also available at the door.
