ASHLAND — Realtors Tiffany Meyer and Stacy Patton have been hosting nature walks with a goal to see every park in Ashland County.
Community members are encouraged to join in their journey and observe the local wildlife.
Meyer and Patton began going on walks last year, completing four in total. Their objective to see all 17 Ashland County parks began this past spring and has continued on a weekly basis since.
Meyer recounted why she and Patton decided to visit all of the local parks.
“My partner, Stacy, challenged me to go to every park with her and I thought ‘Lett’s just make it public and invite people'”, Meyer said. “We started a Facebook page.
“We’ve had different people at each park, which has been really fun,” she said.
Hiking a trail with a group of people can be more appealing than going out alone. Each walk is filled with adventure and laughs with something new to see around every tree.
“I really like that it gives me someone to go with”, said Jana Estle, Ashland community member. “I wouldn’t know that any of this was out here. It’s been fun to go see everything. I’ll go back to a lot of them.”
Meyer is a real estage agent for Howard Hanna and a graduate of Hillsdale High School. Patton is an agent for Coldwell Banker and a graduate of Crestview High School. Both have lived all of their lives in Ashland and are now competitors, but they still remain great friends.
“It’s a cool experience to have two competitive real estate agents exploring their own community and inviting the public to join us”, Meyer said. “It’s exploring and seeing things that are in our backyard, versus traveling hours.”
One park that continued to come up during conversation was Hopkins Landing (located off of County Road 175), which was equipped with its own waterfall.
“As Realtors, a big part of our sales is outdoor living,” Meyer said. “Consumers want park space and recreational space. If we are going to promote the town, we need to be familiar with these parks.”
One recent trek was through Carpenter Nature Preserve on Pavonia Road. An update on the park’s location and weather will be given on Meyer and Patton’s Facebook page “Discover Ashland County.”
Community members that plan on joining Meyer and Patton on their next adventure should remember two things: boots and bug spray.
