ASHLAND — The Ashland City School District Board of Educators has approved an increase to the lunch and breakfast prices for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
As of Sept. 3, elementary and middle school student breakfasts and lunches will cost 25¢ more. This will not affect students in high school or those who utilize the reduced or free lunch programs.
“This was not our wish and we put this off a long time,” said Ashland superintendent Doug Marrah. “We run the risk of not having the ability to have the reimbursement for our aid students if we do not take this action.”
Prior to this motion, Ashland City School’s meal prices were 20 cents below federal guidelines.
The Board of Educators also agreed to have a public auction on Saturday, Sept. 28 to discard any outdated or unusable school property. The auction results from a contract with Dilgard Real Estate and Auctions.
The floor of fieldhouse at Ashland High School is waiting to be poured. That task will be complete as soon as the moisture and humidity in the floor is at the proper level.
