A little bit of character was called for when Ashland was forced to come from behind to upend Mt Vernon 42-27 on Friday in an Ohio high school football matchup.

The start wasn’t the problem for the Yellow Jackets, who began with an 8-0 edge over the Arrows through the end of the first quarter.

A halftime tie at 21-21 allowed for a respite as both teams looked to regroup in the locker room.

The Arrows broke in front at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 35-27 lead over the Yellow Jackets.

There was no room for doubt as the Arrows added to their advantage with a 7-0 margin in the closing period.
